Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to know how to paint?

No painting experience is needed! Only requirement is to have a positive attitude to brush off any negative. Our local professional artist will guide you from start to finish of the session’s featured painting, allowing you to relax and create.

Can I choose a painting?

Please see either our Studio Calendar or our Travel Calendar to see the featured paintings rotated throughout each month for you to choose from. If you see a painting you want to register for but the session says full, don’t give up! Register for the waiting list and if a spot opens up we will contact you right away, or look to other dates the same painting may be offered another day.

Can I request a painting?

Yes. We encourage you to view our Gallery of Paintings, then call or email us your choice and what date you would like us to add it to our calendar, so others can register for it too

Do I need to pre-register?

Space is limited. We can not reserve seats unless paid for. If registering online is not an option for you, you can call us with payment or pay in person.

How early should I arrive?

We will start as soon as most everyone is ready to paint so give yourself time for traffic and getting settled in, but PLEASE call us if you are running late.

Can I paint my own painting during a class?

Yes. We will be teaching a featured painting, but you can paint whatever you wish. If you do choose to take your own creative path, we can give limited guidance should you need it, as we are focused on teaching what everyone signed up for. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. We encourage creativity. Put your own twist on the painting, change up the colors. You may also be interested in our Open Paint program.

How much does it cost?

Most regular sessions are $35.00, but if you like and follow us on facebook, we have monthly deals. Open Paint ranges from $5.00 – $45.00, depending on what you are creating.
We also run occasional specials on our calendar

Can I sit with a friend at a Class and not paint?

Yes, but beyond a $10 sitting fee you will miss out on all the fun! You don’t have to paint what we are doing. You could make a Resin Sea Glass Frame, or paint a No Bake ceramic instead of the sitting fee.

What is included in the price?

A Happy place, cheerful atmosphere, professional step-by-step instruction, canvas, paint brushes, paint, pallet, easel, and an apron. (No step-by-step instruction for Open Paint but we offer guidance).

Can I sit with my friend or group of friends?

Yes. By registering with a Group Name, we will know who is in your group and can seat you all together. You will see details when registering from our online Calendar, or by calling and speaking with one of our Brush It Off associates in advance.

Will my painting be dry by the end of class?

Yes. If you are unsure, we have hair dryers to help the process.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. Age limit is 10 years old for evening classes. Open paint is all age.

Do you have kids classes?

Yes, we schedule kids paint classes during holidays and vacation weekdays and an occasional Sunday by request. Regular scheduled evening classes are ages 10 and up. Open Paint is perfect for kiddo’s who like to do their own creative thing, as we are there to help.

Can I walk in for a Class?

Yes but you are taking your chances. It is recommended you call first so we can be ready for you. We prep canvases and make paint pallets ahead of time. Besides, if we have a full house we would feel horrible to have to turn you away.

Do you provide food and beverages?

Available at our Bar is Beer, Wine, Soda, juice boxes and prepackaged snacks.
We have a light fair bar menu from the Stone and Sparrow here in the Mill. You are welcome to bring food and snacks.

Can I bring my own wine or beer?

No. Brush It Off has a license to sell Beer & Wine. Under MA state law it is illegal to bring your own alcoholic beverages to a facility that has a license to sell alcoholic beverage.

What should I wear?

We provide aprons, but accidental spills or splatters may occur. We suggest wearing something you wouldn’t mind getting paint on just in case.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Cancellations should be made by phone or by emailing us at paint@brush-it-off.com at least 48 hours prior to the registered session for a refund. If you don’t call and miss your class, we can not issue a refund or a credit.

What happens if bad weather?

Safety first! If we cancel a class due to bad weather, we will post it on our Facebook page, then call you, email you, message you. We will do everything in our power to contact you so you are not out on the road expecting a class. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us as well.
